Elders & Friends Luncheon Club
Every week, at Nigeria House, NCGM’s Elders & Friends community gathers for the Luncheon Club — a warm, unhurried afternoon of shared food, conversation and companionship, built around one simple principle: that no elder in our community should be left alone. Approximately 15 elders attend each week, a figure we state as an estimate, since attendance naturally varies week to week rather than following a fixed register.
The people who built it
Our Elders & Friends community is not an anonymous group — it includes real, named individuals whose lives have helped build Nigerian community life in Greater Manchester over decades, among them Tony E. Chaba MBE and Chief George Osundiya, alongside many others who can be found by name on our dedicated Elders & Friends page. These are people who arrived in Manchester long before NCGM had a website, and the Luncheon Club exists, in large part, because of what they built.

Present, week after week
The Club also benefits from the personal commitment of NCGM’s own leadership: our Treasurer, Mrs Ninilola Ebagua, also runs her own registered charity, Silent Patient Network (Charity No. 1211713), and attends Nigeria House weekly in her own capacity to support our elders directly — a reminder that the people who govern NCGM are the same people who show up for it in person, week after week.
