Help us keep our community strong
Every event we run, every elder we support and every new connection we make is possible because of people who give their time, skills and generosity. Here’s how you can help.
Donate
Your gift helps fund the Luncheon Club, cultural events and social support for those who need it most across Greater Manchester.
Volunteer
Share your time and skills — from helping at the Luncheon Club to supporting events. Every pair of hands makes a difference.
Partner With Us
Councils, charities and organisations — let’s work together. We welcome partnerships that strengthen our community.
What your giving pays for
The Elders & Friends Luncheon Club
The Luncheon Club is the programme most directly sustained by donations. It brings older members of the Nigerian community together at Nigeria House for a hot meal, conversation and practical help. For some of those who attend it is the main social contact of their week, and it is our most effective defence against isolation among the elders who built this community.
Giving to NCGM helps cover the cost of food, the room, and getting people there who could not otherwise make the journey.
Cultural events and Independence Day
Our cultural programme keeps Nigerian heritage present and visible in Greater Manchester, and gives children growing up here a living connection to it. The annual Independence Day celebration is the largest of these gatherings. Events need venues, equipment, catering and materials, none of which are free.
Fair Share and charity support
Fair Share distributes food and essentials to families and individuals in need. Alongside it we provide charity support to members facing hardship, bereavement or crisis, and point people towards local services who can help further. This work is quiet and is not publicised case by case, but it is a large part of what NCGM exists to do.
Ways to give and get involved
Donate. A one-off or regular gift through our secure online donation page. Every amount is put to work on the programmes above.
Volunteer. We need help serving and setting up at the Luncheon Club, stewarding and preparing events, and assisting with administration and communications. Volunteering with NCGM is also one of the fastest ways to get to know the community if you are new to Manchester.
Partner with us. We work with councils, charities, faith groups and other community organisations across Greater Manchester, and we welcome approaches from organisations who want to reach or support Nigerian residents here.
Become a member. Membership sustains NCGM year to year and gives you a vote at general meetings on how the organisation is run.
To discuss any of these, email enquiries@ncgm.org.uk or call the Chairman on +44 7455 133795.
Your support keeps our community connected
NCGM is powered by its community. Whether you give, volunteer or partner with us, you help ensure that Nigerians and friends of Nigeria in Greater Manchester always have a place to belong — and that our elders are never left alone.
