Community Engagement (General Meeting)
NCGM is governed by a 14-member Executive Committee, elected and confirmed by the community, and led by Chairman Chief Abayomi Bandele Bashir-Kaka. The Committee meets the community directly at our monthly General Meeting — held on the second Sunday of every month, from 4:00–6:00pm, at Nigeria House — open to every member and friend of NCGM, not just office holders.
What happens at a General Meeting
These meetings are where NCGM’s real decisions get made and explained: community updates, event planning — from the Nigeria at 66 celebration to the recent hosting of the Nigeria Immigration Service’s Passport Intervention Exercise — and open discussion where any member can raise a concern or an idea directly with the people responsible for acting on it. General Meetings typically draw more than 30 attendees each month, a genuine cross-section of the community rather than just committee members turning up to their own meeting.
