Social Cohesion
Unity in Diversity is not a slogan chosen for its sound — it describes how NCGM actually approaches its place within Greater Manchester’s much wider Nigerian population. Nigerians in Greater Manchester come from many different ethnic, regional and linguistic backgrounds, represented by a number of distinct associations and community groups, and NCGM has taken an active, ongoing role in bringing those groups into dialogue with one another rather than allowing the community to remain fragmented.
Dialogue, stated honestly
This work has included direct engagement with other Nigerian community leaders and associations across the region, through open dialogue rather than any formal, named partnership — NCGM has no official institutional partnerships to date, and we would rather state that honestly than imply otherwise. What we do have is a consistent, active effort to keep communication open between groups that might otherwise never speak to one another.
