Nigerian Community Greater Manchester is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation, Charity No. 1186245, first registered with the Charity Commission in November 2019. Our charitable objects, as filed with the Commission, are: to relieve and combat poverty, distress, financial hardship and sickness; to relieve those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health, disability, unemployment or other disadvantage; to promote Nigerian art, culture and heritage for the public benefit; and to advance education for the public benefit in Nigerian culture and language.

These are not aspirational statements sitting unused in a registration document. NCGM is run by 5 registered trustees and supported by more than 30 active volunteers, and our most recent filed accounts show real, ongoing charitable activity — income and expenditure directed toward exactly the purposes above, reviewed and filed with the Charity Commission each year as public record. No trustee receives any payment or personal benefit from the charity; every hour given by NCGM’s leadership is voluntary.
