Nigerian Community Greater Manchester is proud and honoured to share that the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Kemi Nanna Nandap, personally visited Nigeria House on Day 4 of the ongoing Special Passport Intervention Exercise — a significant moment for our community and clear recognition of Nigeria House’s role at the heart of this national effort.
A HANDS-ON VISIT FROM THE TOP
According to the Nigeria Immigration Service’s own announcement, the Comptroller-General visited both the Manchester and London Special Passport Intervention Centres to assess the exercise firsthand, engage directly with Nigerian communities, and ensure the intervention delivers the efficient, responsive service applicants deserve. This was not a ceremonial visit from a distance — it was the Service’s most senior official choosing to see the work at Nigeria House with her own eyes.
During her time at Nigeria House, the Comptroller-General met directly with NCGM’s Chairman, Otunba Abayomi Bandele Bashiru-Kaka, alongside other members of the Executive Committee. She commended the Chairman, the executives, and the entire NCGM team for the effective work being carried out, and for the community’s continued efforts to support Nigerians accessing this exercise.
WHO IS THE COMPTROLLER-GENERAL?
Mrs Kemi Nanna Nandap has led the Nigeria Immigration Service as Comptroller-General since February 2024, having joined the Service in 1989 and risen through the ranks over a career spanning more than three decades. It was Mrs Nandap who directed the deployment of the Passport Intervention Team to the UK in the first place, following instructions from the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo — making her personal visit to Nigeria House a direct follow-through on a commitment she set in motion.
WHY THIS MATTERS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
Nigeria House was selected as the sole Manchester venue for this exercise, standing alongside London, Aberdeen and Cardiff as one of only four locations across the entire United Kingdom. A visit of this kind — from the individual who leads Nigeria’s entire immigration service — is a genuine mark of confidence in NCGM and in the community we represent.
